အဂၤလိပ္လို ေျပာဆိုေရးသားရာမွာ အသုံးတည့္လွတဲ့ prepositions ေတြကို ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို႔ ၾကည့္ၾကရေအာင္။

ဝါက်သုံးေၾကာင္းကို အရင္ၾကည့္ၾကမယ္။

§  Jane is going to France next week.

ဂ်ိန္းက လာမယ့္အပတ္မွာ ျပင္သစ္ကို သြားမယ္။

§  We walked from the hotel to the station.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို႔က ဟုိတယ္ကေန ဘူတာကို လမ္းေလွ်ာက္သြားခဲ့တယ္။

§  A lot of English words come from Latin.

အဂၤလိပ္စကားလုံးမ်ားစြာက လက္တင္က လာတယ္။

ဒီဥပမာဝါက်ေတြမွာပါတဲ့ to တို႔ from တို႔ကို သတိထားၾကည့္မယ္ဆိုရင္ to (ဆီသို႔။ သို႔) ဆိုတာက ဦးတည္တဲ့ ေနရာတစ္ခုကို ညႊန္းျပီး from (မွ။ က) ဆိုတာကေတာ့ ထြက္ခြာတဲ့ ေနရာကို ညႊန္းမွန္း ျမင္သာမယ္ေနာ္။

ပုံေလးကို ၾကည့္လိုက္ပါ။

 

ေနာက္ထပ္ ဝါက်ေတြ ၾကည့္ပါဦး။

§  We jumped into the water.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို႔က ေရထဲကို ခုန္ခ်ခဲ့တယ္။

§  A man came out of the house and got into a car.

လူတစ္ေယာက္က အိမ္ထဲကထြက္ျပီး ကားထဲကို ဝင္ခဲ့တယ္။

§  Why are you looking out of the window?

မင္းဘာလို႔ ျပတင္းေပါက္အျပင္ဘက္ကို ၾကည့္ေနတာလဲ။

§  I took the old batteries out of the radio.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္က ေရဒီယိုထဲက ဘက္ထရီအေဟာင္းေတြကို ထုတ္ခဲ့တယ္။

          ဒီဥပမာေတြအရ “အတြင္းသုိ႔၊ အထဲသုိ႔” ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပၸာယ္နဲ႔ in/into သုံးျပီး “အျပင္ဘက္သို႔၊ မွ…ထြက္” ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပၸာယ္နဲ႔ဆို out of သုံးရမယ္ဆိုတာ သိႏိုင္တာေပါ့။

“တစ္ခုခုကိုထည့္သည္” လို႔ ေျပာခ်င္ရင္ put something in ….လို႔ပဲ ေျပာရပါတယ္။ put something into လို႔ မေျပာပါဘူး။  

§  I put new batteries in the radio.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္က ေရဒီယိုထဲကို ဘက္ထရီအသစ္ေတြ ထည့္ခဲ့တယ္။

          ပိုျပီး ျမင္သာသြားေအာင္ ပုံေလးနဲ႔ တြဲၾကည့္ပါဦး။

 

on, off သုံးစြဲပုံကိုလည္း ဆက္ၾကည့္ၾကမယ္။

ဥပမာ-

§  Don’t’ put your feet on the table.

မင္းရဲ႕ေျခေထာက္ကို စားပြဲေပၚမတင္နဲ႔။

§  Please take your feet off the table.

မင္းရဲ႕ေျခေထာက္ကို စားပြဲေပၚက ဖယ္လုိက္ပါ။

§  I’m going to hang some pictures on the wall.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္က နံရံေပၚမွာ ပုံတစ္ခ်ိဳ႕ ခ်ိတ္မယ္။

§  Be careful! Don’t fall off your bike.

သတိထား။ စက္ဘီးမလဲေစနဲ႔။

§  We got on the bus in Princess Street.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို႔က ပရင့္ဆက္လမ္းမွာ ဘတ္စကားေပၚတက္တယ္။

“အေပၚတြင္” ဆိုရင္ on ၊ ဖယ္ခြာတဲ့သေဘာနဲ႔ “မွ၊ က” ဆိုရင္ off သုံးရတာကို ျမင္မယ္ထင္တယ္ေနာ္။ ပိုရွင္းသြားေအာင္ ပုံေလးလည္း ၾကည့္လိုက္ပါဦး။

 

          “အထက္သုိ႔။ အေပၚကို” လို႔ အဓိပၸာယ္ရတဲ့ up နဲ႔ “ေအာက္သို႔။ အနိမ့္သို႔” လို႔ အဓိပၸာယ္ရတဲ့ down အေၾကာင္း ၾကည့္ရေအာင္။

          ဥပမာဝါက်ေတြကို ဖတ္ၾကည့္ပါ။

§  We walked up the hill to the house.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို႔က အိမ္ဆီကို ေတာင္ကုန္းေလးတစ္ေလွ်ာက္တက္သြားတယ္။

§  Be careful! Don’t fall down the stairs.

သတိထား။ ေလွကားကေန မက်ေစနဲ႔။

          ပုံေလးကို ၾကည့္ပါဦး။ ပိုရွင္းသြားမယ္ေနာ္။

 

          ဒီတစ္ခါမွာေတာ့ over နဲ႔ under ကို ၾကည့္ၾကမယ္။

§  The plane flew over the mountains.

ေလယာဥ္က ေတာင္ေတြေပၚက ပ်ံသြားတယ္။

§  I jumped over the wall into the garden.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္က နံရံကိုေက်ာ္ျပီး ဥယ်ာဥ္ထဲ ခုန္ခ်ခဲ့တယ္။

§  Some people say it is unlucky to walk under a ladder.

ေလွကားေအာက္ကေန ေလွ်ာက္တာက ကံမေကာင္းဘူးလို႔ တခ်ိဳ႕လူေတြကေျပာၾကတယ္။

          “အထက္တြင္၊ အေပၚက။” “ေက်ာ္၍။ ျဖတ္၍” ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပၸာယ္နဲ႔ဆိုရင္ over ကို သုံးျပီး “ေအာက္၌။ ေအာက္သို႔” ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပၸာယ္နဲ႔ဆိုရင္ under သုံးရတယ္။ ဥပမာေတြဖတ္တဲ့အခါ ဒီသေဘာကိုေတြ႔မယ္ေနာ္။ ပုံေလးလည္း ၾကည့္လိုက္ပါ။

 

          through (ျဖတ္၍)၊ round (ပတ္၍၊ ေကြ႔လ်က္) ဆိုတဲ့ စကားလုံးေတြကိုလည္း ေလ့လာၾကည့္ပါဦး။

          ဥပမာမ်ား

§  A bird flew into the room through a window.

ငွက္က ျပတင္းေပါက္ကို ျဖတ္ျပီး အခန္းထဲ ပ်ံဝင္လာတယ္။

§  The old road goes through the village.

လမ္းေဟာင္းက ရြာကို ျဖတ္သြားတယ္။

§  The new road goes round the village.

လမ္းသစ္က ရြာကို ပတ္သြားတယ္။

§  The bus stop is just round the corner.

ဘတ္စကားမွတ္တိုင္က လမ္းအေကြ႔နားေလးမွာ။

§  I walked round the town and took some photographs.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္က ျမိဳ႕တစ္ပတ္ေလွ်ာက္ျပီး ဓာတ္ပုံေတြ ရိုက္ခဲ့တယ္။

          around ကို သုံးလို႔လည္း ရပါတယ္။ round နဲ႔ အဓိပၸာယ္တူတူပါပဲ။

ကြ်န္ေတာ္တို႔က ျမိဳ႕တစ္ပတ္ေလွ်ာက္ခဲ့တယ္။

          သုံးစြဲပုံေတြကို ရွင္းရွင္းလင္းလင္း ျမင္ေအာင္ ပုံၾကည့္လိုက္ပါဦး။

 

         

along နဲ႔ across ကိုလည္း ေလ့လာၾကတာေပါ့။ ဥပမာဝါက်ေတြမွာ ဒီလိုေျပာထားတယ္။

§  I was walking along the road with my dog.

ကြ်န္ေတာ္က ကြ်န္ေတာ့္ရဲ႕ ေခြးနဲ႔ လမ္းတစ္ေလွ်ာက္ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္ေနတာ။

§  Let’s go for a walk along the river.

ျမစ္ကမ္းတစ္ေလွ်ာက္မွာ လမ္းေလွ်ာက္ထြက္ၾကစို႔။

§  The dog swam across the river.

ေခြးက ျမစ္ကို ျဖတ္ကူးသြားတယ္။

          “တစ္ေလွ်ာက္၊ အတိုင္း” ဆိုတဲ့ အဓိပၸာယ္နဲ႔ဆိုရင္ along သုံးျပီးေတာ့ တစ္ဖက္မွတစ္ဖက္သုိ႔ ျဖတ္သန္းတဲ့ သေဘာနဲ႔ဆိုရင္ across (ျဖတ္၍၊ ျဖတ္သန္း၍) သုံးတာ ျမင္မယ္ထင္ပါတယ္။

          ဒီပုံေလးေတြနဲ႔ တြဲၾကည့္ပါ။

 

ေနာက္ဆုံးတစ္ခုအေနနဲ႔ past (ေက်ာ္၍၊ ျဖတ္၍) အေၾကာင္းကို ၾကည့္ရေအာင္။ ဥပမာ ဝါက်ေတြ ဖတ္ပါဦး။

§  They walked past me without speaking.

သူတို႔က စကားမေျပာဘဲ ငါ့ကို ျဖတ္ျပီး ေလွ်ာက္သြားတယ္။

§  A: Excuse me, how do I get to the hospital?

တဆိတ္ေလာက္ခင္ဗ်ာ။ ေဆးရံုကို ဘယ္လို သြားရမလဲ။

B: Go along this road, past the cinema, under the bridge and the hospital is on the left.

ဒီလမ္းအတိုင္းသြား၊ ရုပ္ရွင္ရံုကို ေက်ာ္လိုက္။ တံတားေအာက္မွာပဲ၊ ေဆးရံုက ဘယ္ဘက္မွာ။

          ပုံေလး ၾကည့္ပါဦး။ ရွင္းသြားမယ္ေနာ္။

 

ဒီေလာက္ဆိုရင္ to, from, into, out of, on, off, up, down, over, under, through, round (around), along, across, past တို႔အေၾကာင္းကို အေတာ္အသင့္ နားလည္ျပီလို႔ ထင္ပါတယ္။ အဂၤလိပ္စာအသုံးခ်ျပီး ဘဝ တိုးတက္ႏိုင္ပါေစ။
